Comments: Mar 19, 2009: Be careful about cross-contamination at Chipolte. I always thought I was safe with the "burrito in a bowl" and asking the workers to change their gloves. However, I kept feeling sick every time after I ate there. That's when my husband noticed that someone handling the tortillas was also touching some of the topping (lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese, etc). We really enjoyed the food but no longer eat there because of that. I've eaten at a different Mexican restaurant that has separate people handling the tortillas and the toppings. So far I've never felt sick after eating there. Commentor's sensitivity: Has Digestive Symptoms (gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc) and NON-digestive Symptoms (migraines, anemia, joint pain, etc) and has an an immediate and unmistakable reaction to gluten
Mar 29, 2009: I also ask the servers to change gloves.. but saw that they use the same serving spoons to heap food onto a tortilla or a bowl. I will not eat here again.. Its just not worth the risk of becoming so ill. Jun 7, 2009: Even though my husband and I were assured by a manager that our food would be prepared in a "celiac" safe way...we both got very sick very quickly after eating here.
